What’s new on our Substack!
On our Substack you will find a community notice board, Community Connections, where we will post events, courses and other interesting items from our friends in the community and activist sector.
You will also find a section dedicated to resources. Under Resources, you will find different types of educational material. You will find research we take part in in this section, as well as research we might find interesting and want to share.
We have also compiled information guides on the far right and the manosphere (coming soon!), which you can find in this section.

Limerick Feminist Book Club
Monday July 6th | 6:00 - 7:30 PM
The Limerick Feminist Book Club meets at the WCI Limerick offices on 28 John Street, and you can join for discussions on feminism and intersectionality.

The book for this meeting is The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin.
A groundbreaking work of science fiction, The Left Hand of Darkness tells the story of Genly Ai, who travels to Winter (”Gethen” in the language of its own people), a world whose inhabitants are ambisexual humans. Ai’s goal is to facilitate Winter’s inclusion in a growing intergalactic union. But to do so he must bridge the gulf between his own views and those of the completely dissimilar culture that he encounters.

We have all sorts of things coming up in the autumn, both tried and trusted courses such as Creative Writing, and new things like Women’s Health and Wellbeing. You can count on our early September Open Day to find out everything you need, and to register for the events and courses.
Workshop for Neurospicy Women
We are going to put on a workshop in September for Neurodiverse Women. This will be a half day event with experts covering topics such as work balance, health and wellbeing, and finding your tribe. You do not need an official diagnosis to participate.
We know it is hard to satisfy the needs of everyone, but we would appreciate if you could indicate which day would suit you best for a 3 hour workshop. Thank you!

Empower Her - Domestic Abuse Recovery: Programme and Counselling
Empowering you to reclaim your life after domestic abuse, focusing on healing, tools for recovery and growth, and creating pathways for your new future. This free confidential service includes 8 one-to-one counselling sessions online and a 7-week in-person group programme.
In a safe and respectful, non-judgmental space, you’ll gain practical tools, emotional support, and life skills to help you move forward after experiences of domestic abuse or coercive control, with holistic wraparound supports.
Counselling begins in September and the 7-week in-person group programme begins in January 2027 (Wednesday mornings).

We at WCI Limerick are very aware of the cost of living crisis the public is facing, and we also understand the love of a bargain. But we are still very concerned with the overproduction and consumption of fast fashion. We ran into this website, Good On You, that rates the sustainability of fashion and beauty brands, provides information on products and offers ethical alternatives. We recommend reading their rating of Temu, and why they gave it the rating of 'We Avoid'. Find the article on the Good On You website, and get their app for sustainable fashion ratings.

We are listening to -> The Women’s Podcast with Ailbhe Smyth
WCI Patron, Ailbhe Smyth joined the Women’s Podcast ahead of her milestone 80th birthday, in May of 2026. In this episode, the feminist activist explores her life lessons and the advice she has for others. The pair discuss everything from romance and relationships, to how to cope with failure and finding your voice as a woman.
We absolutely recommend listening to Ailbhe at all possible occasions, and we hope you will enjoy this podcast with her, on the Irish Times website or wherever else you find your podcasts.
Single Studies Research Launch!
On June 11th we launched joint research, Experience of Being Single: Women’s Perspectives, with EDGE Research Group based in TUS. We were delighted to partner in this research and shine a light on such an important topic.
We are grateful to all of the single women who shared their experiences and gave input into this research. We hope that readers will utilize the information and recommendations outlined in this report and engage in pushing towards positive societal and policy change for single women in Ireland. Women’s Solidarity & Action Group
This group will be a regular space for women to gather, build connections and discuss issues we all face, while also engaging in practical and meaningful actions to create positive change.
